Important Notice About EU Shipping

Dear Customer!

From 12 August 2026, we have temporarily suspended shipping to EU countries outside Hungary. We know this is inconvenient for many of you, and we are truly sorry. We would like to explain what is behind this decision — because it is neither voluntary, nor permanent.

What happened?

On 12 August 2026, the European Union's new packaging regulation came into force: the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation). Under this regulation, any business shipping packaged goods to an EU member state is required to register with that country's waste management system — through an authorised representative.

This means a separate registration, a separate authorised representative, and a separate annual fee for each member state. The base registration and associated costs per country are so high that they place the same financial burden on a small webshop as on a large multinational corporation — while our turnover and resources are a fraction of theirs.

The regulation currently contains such a level of uncertainty that even experts and authorities cannot clearly state exactly what, how, and where to register. In the event of a single incorrect shipment, the minimum fine that can be imposed reaches €10,000 — a risk no small business can afford to take.

What are we doing to find a solution?

We are not giving up — and we are not staying silent.

We are actively working to understand the regulation and find a viable path forward. We are also doing everything we can to ensure this regulation takes a fairer shape for small businesses:

• We have contacted our local Member of Parliament
• We have reached out to the relevant MEP
• We have written to journalists and editorial offices
• We have submitted our feedback on the EU's official consultation platform, where more than 4,000 affected businesses have now raised their voices

You can help too — if you think it matters

This regulation does not only affect us. Thousands of small webshops and independent businesses across Europe have suspended their EU shipping over the past few days. If you believe that small businesses should be able to remain competitive in the EU single market, here are some ways you can make a difference:

Unfortunately, most webshop owners are still unaware that this regulation applies to them too. Information coming through official channels is heavily filtered, and typically presented from the perspective of the compliance industry — consultants and registration service providers who have a commercial interest in maintaining the regulation. Many webshop owners therefore believe that PPWR only affects large manufacturers, packaging producers, or supermarket chains — and that it does not apply to them. This is wrong.

This is especially true for Hungarian webshops: the domestic media has published almost exclusively highly technical articles from tax advisors and compliance firms, in which the real consequences of cross-border shipping are entirely absent. Many Hungarian webshop owners are therefore continuing to operate without being aware of the risks they face.

What is next?

The review of the regulation is scheduled to be put on the EU agenda on 1 October. We hope that by then decision-makers will have heard the voices of affected businesses, and that a proportionate solution will be found for small and micro-enterprises.

As soon as the situation is clarified and we can safely resume shipping (it seems we will not need to wait until October), we will immediately restore EU delivery. Until then, thank you for your understanding and patience.
