The Discoveryopt LHD series (Lightweight High Definition) was developed to deliver premium-level optical and mechanical performance at a mid-range price point. The LHD 8–32×56 SFIR FFP-Z is the flagship model of this series: a 34mm tube, first focal plane, illuminated reticle, high-magnification riflescope built for serious long-range shooting.

Optics and Image Quality

The 56mm objective lens gathers an abundance of light, which is a decisive advantage in low-light conditions – during dawn or dusk hunts. The lenses feature a fully multi-coated treatment that minimises reflections and maximises light transmission. The result is a sharp, high-contrast, true-colour image even at the top of the magnification range at 32×.

The interior is CO₂-flushed and dry nitrogen-purged, making the scope completely fogproof and immune to internal condensation during temperature changes. O-ring seals provide full waterproofing.

First Focal Plane (FFP) Reticle – Why It Matters

FFP placement means the reticle subtensions scale proportionally with magnification. The SFIR-F reticle therefore provides accurate ballistic ranging and wind corrections at every magnification setting – not just at one fixed power as with second focal plane (SFP) designs. This is a significant advantage both in competition and real-world field use.

The reticle features 6-level adjustable red illumination, ensuring clear reticle visibility in low-light and twilight conditions without causing eye strain or distracting from the target.

Important detail: the reticle is etched (engraved), meaning it remains fully visible and usable even when the illumination is switched off.

Turrets and Adjustment System

The scope is equipped with 0.1 MIL (1/10 MRAD) click turrets, each click producing a firm, audible confirmation. The total elevation adjustment range is 36 MIL (approx. 122 MOA), and windage is 18 MIL (approx. 60 MOA) – offering extensive flexibility even at extreme long-range distances.

The zero stop function allows a pre-set zero point to be locked in, so the turret can be returned to zero with a single pull. This is invaluable in competition or when rapidly changing shooting distances – no counting clicks required, zero is always within reach.

Side Parallax Adjustment

The side-mounted parallax adjustment wheel focuses the image from 25 yards to infinity. This arrangement is far more convenient than front objective parallax adjustment, as the shooter can operate it easily from the firing position. Particularly useful during variable-distance shooting scenarios.

Mechanical Construction and Durability

The 34mm monolithic tube is machined from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy (6061-T6) in a single piece. This "unibody" construction not only increases structural rigidity but also reduces the risk of internal optical axis shift under heavy recoil. The scope's shockproof, waterproof and fogproof design guarantees reliable operation in demanding conditions.
