Discovery HD Gen II 4-24x50 SFIR FFP — detailed product overview

The Discovery Optics HD series is built for shooters and hunters who refuse to compromise on optical quality and mechanical reliability. The HD Gen II model introduces second-generation HD glass technology and a refined, more robust tube design — combining these qualities into a single precision long-range optic.

Optical performance: HD glass and FFP reticle

The 34 mm one-piece aluminium tube provides a solid foundation for the entire optical system, treated with Full Multi-Green Coating — achieving up to 95% light transmission across the 380–780 nm wavelength range. The HD (High Definition) glass effectively suppresses chromatic aberration and field curvature, which becomes most noticeable at high magnification settings.

The SS IR-MIL reticle is positioned in the first focal plane (FFP) and scales with magnification, so MIL-based readings — whether for range estimation, wind correction or bullet drop compensation — are valid and accurate at every magnification level. The reticle is glass-etched and will not shift under heavy recoil.

Illumination and parallax adjustment

SFIR (Side Focus Illuminated Reticle) refers to two features: the side-mounted parallax adjustment wheel and the built-in red illumination. Six brightness levels allow the reticle to be optimally tuned for dusk, shaded woodland or other low-light environments. A CR2032 battery powers the illumination.

The side parallax wheel adjusts from 15 yards (approx. 13.7 m) to infinity, making this scope equally useful for air rifle shooters and hunters engaging targets at short distances.

Turret mechanics: Push-Zero Lock and Zero Stop

The elevation and windage turrets operate with 1/10 MIL (0.1 MRAD) clicks — equivalent to 1 cm at 100 m. The Push-Zero Lock system allows the scale to be reset to zero after zeroing without altering the scope's true zero point. The Zero Stop function ensures the elevation turret automatically stops at the saved zero when dialling down — preventing accidental over-adjustment in the field.

Build quality and weather resistance

The one-piece aluminium tube is machined from aerospace-grade alloy with a Hard Coat Anodized finish, providing both corrosion resistance and long-term mechanical durability. Nitrogen filling prevents internal fogging during sudden temperature changes. IPX7 waterproof rating offers protection to 1 metre depth.

Ideal applications

The Discovery HD Gen II 4-24x50 SFIR FFP is recommended for shooters and hunters seeking a reliable, precision optic for long-range shooting and hunting — particularly in situations where changing light conditions and accurate MIL-based corrections are equally important. The scope also performs reliably on powerful air rifles, thanks to its recoil resistance and glass-etched reticle design.
